Troubleshooting Plumbit page headers

Start with ownership#

1. Open the affected URL#

   Record the content type and context: page, post, Service, Project, Team member, product, archive, search, shop, product category, blog home, or 404.

2. Check the provider#

   Check the applicable global section and the page-level Page Header Layout Type. A valid Elementor Header record owns the page-header output when Elementor mode is selected; theme Design 1–5 controls do not render that same output.

3. Check the saved scope#

   Record the design, position, size, image, overlay, scroll effect, strength, title, breadcrumb, and content-panel settings before changing anything.

The page header is missing#

Check in this order:

1. Confirm Enable Page Header is enabled in the applicable global or page-level scope.
2. Check for a page-level disable or provider override.
3. Check whether an Elementor Header is selected and still exists.
4. Check the page template and the current context.
5. Confirm the active Plumbit theme and required extension state.
6. Only after ownership is confirmed, investigate relevant cache or generated output.

When Elementor mode is selected without a valid page-header template, Plumbit does not silently switch to a theme page header. Check the Header selection before changing the theme design.

The wrong design or title appears#

Check the matching global context first, then a page-level Page Header Design value. An explicit Design 1 is different from an unset value: Design 1 deliberately overrides the global design, while an inherited field lets the applicable global setting apply.

For the title, check the WordPress title, supported custom title fields, archive or taxonomy title, search query, blog page assignment, shop context, and 404 context. Do not diagnose a page title by changing the Elementor page content first.

Breadcrumbs or background are wrong#

The page header is duplicated or overlaps the menu#

For duplicates, check for a theme page header plus an Elementor page-header template, a manual title/banner inside authored content, or stale output from a previous provider. Confirm that only one owner is expected before changing settings.

For overlap, compare Under Menu with After Menu, then check transparent site-header behavior, sticky header state, the active page template, and page-level position overrides. Do not apply a CSS patch as the first fix.

Boxed or Full Width seems ineffective#

The width setting controls the page-header layout's container relationship, not its height. The selected design can place media and content in different container relationships, especially when Full Width is selected. Check the design article and inspect the public page at a wide and narrow viewport before treating the setting as broken.

Parallax does not move#

Confirm Page Header Background Scroll Effect is set to Parallax, a valid primary image exists, the header has visible height, and Parallax Strength is within 1–10. Then check reduced-motion preferences, relevant browser-console errors, image loading, and device limitations. The effect is attached to primary media; Designs 3–5 content-panel backgrounds remain static.

Fixed backgrounds can also differ on mobile browsers. Treat that as a browser behavior check rather than assuming every device will render an identical fixed image.

Changes remain stale#

1. Publish or update the correct source.
2. Confirm the active owner and context.
3. Refresh the affected page and test logged out or privately.
4. Clear the relevant page cache only after the source is correct.
5. Clear CDN cache when it is known to serve the stale page.
6. Regenerate Elementor files only when an Elementor template owns the output.

Do not clear every cache or edit theme files before establishing which layer owns the page header.

A critical error appears#

Collect the full error, affected URL, content type, owner, design or template, position, scroll effect, Plumbit version, Plumbit Extensions version, Elementor version, WordPress version, PHP version, browser-console output, and recent changes. Expected result#

You can identify whether a failure belongs to global settings, a context-specific setting, a page-level override, Elementor template ownership, background resolution, positioning, or the browser's motion behavior before escalating.
