How Plumbit post widgets display content

Open the post widget#

Open the Elementor page that contains the Blog widget. Confirm the widget title and the page you are editing before changing settings. Elementor post widgets use their own widget settings. The widget has its own display, query, image, excerpt, link, navigation, and pagination controls; changing the theme Blog Customizer does not automatically redesign every widget.

Choose a content mode#

The active Blog widget does not provide a direct repeater mode for authoring an unrelated article inside the widget. If another Elementor widget uses direct content fields, those fields belong to that Elementor page and do not reference WordPress posts.

Configure a query#

For query modes, set the Number of items and use Filter blog items by category with Blog Category when the widget should show one category. The query obtains published WordPress posts. Use Order by title when alphabetical title ordering is required; otherwise the widget's existing query order applies. A new post appears only when its status, category, item limit, and pagination place it in the result.

Control card content#

Use Blog Design for Image Top, Image Left, or Image Right where available. Post Excerpt controls the excerpt output, and Read more title changes the link text. The image comes from the queried post's Featured Image in query modes. The selected post in Single Blog Post also remains a WordPress post record, so changing that post changes the widget after the page is refreshed and saved as needed.

Configure pagination and carousel controls#

Grid and List modes expose Enable Pagination and Items Per Page where the active control conditions allow them. Carousel mode exposes its speed, number of carousel items, loop, pause-on-hover, responsive slides, arrows, bullets, and arrow-position controls. Treat these as widget settings, not as changes to the theme blog index or WordPress archive pagination.

Understand links and updates#

Titles, images, and read-more links in the active Blog widget point to the selected post permalink. If the post is unpublished, moved to Trash, or no longer matches the query, it can disappear from a query mode or Single Blog Post mode. A direct-content widget elsewhere on the page follows its own Elementor fields instead of a post record.

When a widget is empty#

1. Check the mode#

   Confirm whether the widget is Carousel, Grid, List, or Single Blog Post. Do not troubleshoot a query as though it were a direct Elementor item.

2. Check the source post#

   For query modes, confirm the post is published, has the expected category, and is within the item or pagination range. For Single Blog Post, confirm the selected post still exists and is published.

3. Save and refresh#

   Save the Elementor page, refresh the frontend, and clear only the relevant page or generated-file cache if the saved result remains stale.

Send the page URL, widget mode, exact query controls, selected category or post, expected result, and the theme, extension, Elementor, WordPress, PHP, and browser versions. Do not send passwords. Contact support when the source and query are correct but the output remains wrong.
