Plumbit's theme footer widget area is managed from WordPress Widgets, while the footer's number of columns and lower copyright bar are controlled separately. The widget areas are useful for reusable company information, opening hours, recent posts, social links, and navigation.
Before you begin#
- Confirm the theme footer provider is Theme Options/Widget Area.
- Confirm Plumbit Extensions is active when you need the Plumbit classic widgets.
- Record the current Footer Column Layout and widget assignments before moving anything.
- Use Appearance > Widgets with administrator access and avoid changing a live layout without a backup.
Open the Widgets screen#
Open Appearance > Widgets. Plumbit registers Footer Sidebar 1, Footer Sidebar 2, Footer Sidebar 3, and Footer Sidebar 4 in the Widgets screen.
Manage the footer areas from Appearance > Widgets. Depending on the WordPress configuration, the same widget areas may also be available through the Customizer preview.
Understand the footer areas#
Footer Sidebar 1 through 4 are the four theme-registered footer widget areas. The selected Footer Column Layout determines how many of them are rendered: one, two, three, four, or a four-two proportion. Place the most important branding or contact content in the first area when the layout gives it the widest position.
Do not assume every registered area appears in every layout. If the selected layout does not include an area, a widget assigned there may not be visible in the current footer composition.
Add Company Info#
Use Plumbit: Company Info for reusable business identity and contact content. The widget's saved fields control its title, logo or image, description, address, phone, email, and related presentation according to the active widget version. Place it in a visible Footer Sidebar and preview the image and long contact lines at mobile width.
Add opening hours#
Plumbit: Opening Hours provides the regular office-hours presentation. Plumbit: Opening Hours 2 provides the alternate three-period hours presentation. Choose the widget that matches the content you need, then save it in the selected footer area and check empty rows, closed-day text, and narrow wrapping.
Add social links#
Use Plumbit: Social for the social links configured in its widget fields. The theme supplies the footer-area presentation and the widget supplies the saved URLs and icon choices. Check that each link opens the intended destination and that the hover and contrast colors remain readable.
Add a navigation menu widget#
Use the WordPress Navigation Menu widget when you want a saved menu inside a footer widget column. This is different from the theme footer's Footer Menu location. The widget selects its own menu, so it can display a menu even when Footer Menu Type is not Navigation Menu.

Arrange the columns#
Choose the layout first#
Set a one-, two-, three-, four-, or four-two-column layout in the Customizer.
Assign widgets#
Place widgets in the matching Footer Sidebar areas and keep the order intentional.
Check empty areas#
Preview the public footer to see whether the selected composition leaves an unused column or balanced empty area.
Check mobile stacking#
Review long links, images, hours, and social icons on a narrow viewport.
Manage the bottom footer#
Open the Customizer's Footer section. Enable Footer Copyright Area controls the lower bar, and Copyright Text supplies its content. The lower bar can also show the theme Footer Menu, Social Menu, or Footer Contact Detail through Footer Menu Type. Plumbit does not provide an automatic year token in Copyright Text. Enter the year manually and update it when needed.
When a column is empty#
Check the active provider, selected column layout, sidebar assignment, widget save state, and whether the chosen layout renders that area. Do not add duplicate widgets before confirming that the visible footer is not Elementor-owned.
Expected result#
The theme footer shows the intended saved widgets in the selected columns, stacks them safely on smaller screens, and keeps the copyright and lower-bar settings separate.
