Plumbit Services are reusable WordPress records. A published Service can be queried by the Plumbit Elementor Services widget, while its individual page uses the theme's single-Service template.
Before you begin#
- Make sure the Plumbit theme and Plumbit Extensions are active.
- Use an administrator account or another role with permission to manage Services.
- Use a backup or staging copy before making a substantial content or layout change.
If the Services menu is missing, check the companion plugin before changing theme files. See Service troubleshooting for the safe checks.
Open the Services screen#
In the WordPress dashboard, go to Services > All Services. The current Plumbit setup also exposes Add New Service and Service Categories under the Services menu.
Choose a Service title to edit an existing record, or use Add New Service to create one.
Add a Service#
Open Add New Service#
Choose Services > Add New Service.
Enter the title#
Add the name customers should see for this Service.
Add the main content#
Write the full Service content in the WordPress editor. This is the content printed on the individual Service page.
Choose a featured image when the listing needs one#
Queried Services widgets can use the Service featured image. Keep the image consistent with the other cards in the same listing.
Review optional Service fields#
The Service Options panel contains Service Description and Service Icon. The description is intended for the Service widget, while the icon is a widget presentation option.
Assign a Service Category when useful#
Service Categories are hierarchical terms that the Services widget can use for filtering. Leave the field unset when the Service does not need a category.
Review page-level settings#
The editor can expose shared Page Layout and Page Options controls for the Service. Use them only for a deliberate layout or page-header exception.
Preview and publish#
Use the available WordPress preview and save controls, then choose Publish when the Service is ready.
The Service editor supports a title, main editor content, featured image, and revisions. It does not include a native WordPress Excerpt field. Use Service Description when a widget needs a short summary.
Edit an existing Service#
Open the list#
Go to Services > All Services.
Choose the record#
Select the Service title or its Edit action.
Update the source#
Change the title, main content, featured image, Service Description, Service Icon, category, or page-level setting that owns the value.
Preview and update#
Preview the individual Service and the page containing its widget, then choose Update. Refresh the affected page after saving.
Understand the Service fields#
| Field or panel | Where it appears | Required? | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Title | Service record | Normally yes | Used as the queried card title and the individual page title. |
| Main content | WordPress editor | Normally yes | Printed in the single-Service content area. |
| Featured image | Service record | Optional | Used by queried widget cards when the listing design displays an image. |
| Service Description | Service Options | Optional | Short widget description; separate from the main content. |
| Service Icon | Service Options | Optional | Displayed only when the widget's icon option is enabled. |
| Service Categories | Taxonomy panel | Optional | Hierarchical terms available to the widget's category filter. |
| Page Layout and Page Options | Meta Boxes | Optional | Layout and page-level overrides; blank inheriting values allow the corresponding global setting to apply. |
Title and permalink#
The Service post type uses the service rewrite base by default, and Plumbit can use its configured Service slug. Changing a published title does not necessarily change an established URL automatically. Plan redirects before changing a public slug.
Featured image behavior#
In a queried Services widget, the featured image belongs to the Service record. In a manually populated Elementor Content List or Single Service item, the image can instead be stored directly in the widget. If the wrong image appears, first identify which content mode the widget uses.
Service Categories#
Use Service Categories to group records when a Services widget needs a category filter. The taxonomy is available in the admin and supports hierarchical terms. Use the category filter only when the selected Services widget exposes it.
Delete or restore a Service#
Use the WordPress Trash action only when the record is no longer needed. A removed Service can leave an empty position or a missing card in a manually configured widget. Restore it from the Trash screen when a recoverable record is needed; permanent deletion cannot be assumed reversible.
Expected result#
The Service is saved as a reusable record, available to the Plumbit widget modes, and rendered on its individual page through the theme's Service template.
Common problems#
Support escalation#
Include the Service title, Service URL, page where it should appear, widget name and mode, publication status, screenshot, Plumbit version, Plumbit Extensions version, WordPress version, and PHP version. Do not send passwords.
