Global page-header settings and page-level overrides

Understand global page-header contexts#

Open the Customizer and then Header. Plumbit provides separate page-header sections for Page Header, Archive Page Header, Search Page Header, 404 Page Header, Blog Home Page Header, and Shop Page Header. These settings apply to their matching contexts rather than to every URL indiscriminately.

Each section can expose its own enable state, provider, selected Header template, design, background, scroll effect, strength, position, size, title, breadcrumb, and content-panel controls. Choose the context section that owns the URL you are testing before changing a global value.

Open page-level Page Options#

For supported singular content, open the WordPress editor and find the Page Options Meta Box. It includes fields such as Page Header, Page Header Design, Page Header Background Image, Page Header Background Color, Page Header Background Scroll Effect, Parallax Strength, Page Header Position, Page Header Size, Page Header Content Background Color, Page Header Content Background Image, title fields, and breadcrumb fields.

Not every Customizer control has a matching page-level field. Use only the fields that are present for the content type you are editing.

Use inheritance deliberately#

When a page-level control supports inheritance, leaving it unset allows the corresponding global setting to apply. Where a matching page-level override is available, use it for a deliberate exception. Blank values are not a request to copy a different context's Customizer value into the editor; they leave the page eligible for the applicable global resolution.

To return a page to the global design, clear its explicit Page Header Design value so it is back to Use Customizer Setting. Do the same for other page-level fields when you want their global counterparts to apply. Update the page and reload the frontend to confirm the inherited result.

Check the page-header provider#

On supported singular content, the Page Sections settings include Page Header Layout Type and Choose a Header. In the theme-rendered mode, the selected Design 1–5 and theme settings control the page header. In Elementor mode, a valid selected Header record supplies the page-header output and the theme page-header design is bypassed.

Elementor page-header templates are separate from the Elementor content canvas and from the site's Main Header template. Do not edit the page content or site header when the Page Header provider owns the output.

Select an Elementor page-header template#

1. Confirm the provider#

   In the relevant global or page-level Page Sections controls, select the Elementor page-header layout type.

2. Choose a Header#

   Use Choose a Header to select a published record from the WordPress Headers area. Open that record in Elementor when you need to edit its content.

3. Preview one owner#

   Check that the Elementor template supplies the page header and that the theme Design 1–5 output is not also visible.

4. Restore theme output when needed#

   Select the theme-rendered page-header provider or clear the supported page-level provider override so the applicable global provider can apply.

If Elementor is selected without a valid template, Plumbit does not silently render the theme page header in that route. A missing or invalid Header selection therefore needs to be checked before changing design settings.

Why one context or page can differ#

• A page can have a deliberate Page Options override.
• Archives, search, 404, blog home, and shop routes use their own context settings.
• A product category can resolve its primary media from the category term while its content-panel image remains a separate setting.
• A valid Elementor page-header template can bypass the theme designs.
• Blank singular values can inherit the applicable global value, while explicit Design 1 is still a deliberate override.

Safe override workflow#

1. Record the current owner#

   Write down the URL, context, provider, template, design, image, position, size, scroll effect, and page-level values.

2. Change one scope#

   Use the matching context Customizer section or the supported Page Options field; do not change global settings to fix one page before checking its override.

3. Preview and update#

   Check the page at wide and narrow widths, then update the page or publish the Customizer only after confirming the owner.

4. Clear an exception safely#

   Remove the explicit page-level value and reload to confirm that the applicable global setting is restored. Do not delete a Header template as a first step.

Expected result#

You can explain why a page header looks different, change one page without unintentionally changing a context, and identify whether Theme Options or an Elementor Header record owns the visible output.
