Plumbit's Elementor Projects widget supports Post Type queries for published Project records, direct Content List items, and direct Single Project controls. Identify the content mode before changing the source.
Before you begin#
- Confirm Elementor and Plumbit Extensions are active.
- Have at least one published Project available when testing a post-type query.
- Open the correct Elementor page and select the Projects widget.
Identify the Project widget#
In Elementor, search for Projects widget in the Plumbit widget category. Plumbit keeps separate legacy and modern implementations, but both are presented to customers as the Projects widget and use the same Project post type and Project Categories taxonomy.
Determine the content mode#
Open Project Settings and inspect Project Display Type and Project Content. The display choices include Project Carousel, Project Grid, Project Grid Filter, and Single Project. For carousel and grid modes, Project Content can use Post Type or Content List.
Post Type queries published Project records. Content List stores Project Items directly in Elementor and does not select Project records. Single Project uses direct Elementor controls for its image, title, category, and link.
Use Content List items#
Choose Content List#
Set Project Content to Content List for items authored directly on the Elementor page.
Open Project Items#
Add or expand a repeater item. The available fields include Project Image, Title, Enable Category, Category, Enable Project Link, Project Link, Page / Post / Custom Post Type, and Link Type.
Update the Elementor page#
Content List changes belong to the Elementor page. Publishing, updating, deleting, or trashing a Project record does not alter a Content List item.
Query published Projects#
Set Project Content to Post Type. Use the available query controls for the selected display type, including Number of items, Enable Pagination, Items Per Page, Filter projects by category, and Project Category. The grid-filter display also provides an All Projects Title and category filter buttons.
Use Order by title when the widget should sort queried Projects alphabetically. Otherwise, the widget's default query order applies. This is widget query order, not a global drag-and-drop Project order.
Use Project Categories and frontend filters#
Project Categories belong to the Project record. Query-based carousel and grid modes can filter by a selected Project Category. Project Grid Filter can render category buttons, including an All Projects button, and filter the rendered items on the page. Filtering happens in the browser after the Project items are rendered. It is not AJAX-based.

The single Project mode has its own direct controls, including Project Image, Title, Category, Enable Project Link, Project Link, Page / Post / Custom Post Type, and Link Type. These values are saved in the Elementor widget, not in the Project record.
Change Project ordering#
For Post Type widgets, the available title-order switch changes the query to title ascending. Content List items follow their repeater order. Plumbit does not register a native Project archive. Project Category taxonomy routes follow their WordPress query order, while Elementor Projects widgets use their own query or repeater order. Frontend filter display order is a separate presentation layer.
Check Project links#
Post Type cards use the Project permalink when Enable projects links is enabled. Content List and Single Project modes can use a direct URL or the Page / Post / Custom Post Type selector, with Link Type options for a normal link, phone, or email where exposed. Check the content mode before changing a URL.
Preview and update#
Preview the page after changing a widget query, repeater item, filter, link, or responsive setting. Check the Project image, title, category buttons, links, carousel controls, and mobile card layout. Update the Elementor page when widget settings changed; update the Project record when its saved content changed.
Expected result#
You can identify whether a visible Project value comes from the Project record, the query, the category filter, the manual repeater, or a direct Elementor override.
