How to configure the Plumbit theme header

Before you begin#

• Keep a backup or staging copy before changing structural header settings.
• Record the current provider, Header Type, logo, menu assignments, and sticky state.
• Have a logged-out browser available for the final check.

Open the Header settings#

Open the WordPress Customizer, then open Header. The main areas are Main Header, Top Header, Sticky Header, and Mobile Header. Each area has its own provider and settings.

Choose the header mode#

Each header area has a layout-type control with Theme Options and Elementor choices. In the Main Header section it is labeled Main Header Layout Type; the other areas use the corresponding Top Header, Sticky Header, or Mobile Header label. In Theme Options mode, the theme renders its selected header layout. In Elementor mode, the selected published Header template supplies that area when a valid template is selected.

Changing the provider can replace the visible header source, not just its menu. If Customizer changes appear to do nothing, use Theme headers versus Elementor header templates to identify the owner before changing more settings.

Configure the Main Header#

In the Main Header section, choose the theme layout with Header Type. The available choices are Header 1, Header 2, Header 3, and Header 4. The section also contains the main logo controls, including Logo, optional Homepage Logo, Custom Logo Size, and logo sizing controls.

Use the existing Main Header controls for the parts exposed by the selected design: the primary menu, site title, search button, logo dimensions, colors, spacing, border, shadow, buttons, contact or social elements, and WooCommerce elements where present. Some options are design-specific or live in other Customizer sections, so check the selected design preview and the public page together.

Configure the Top Header#

Open Top Header and use Enable Top Header to control whether the optional area renders. The available theme controls include Top Header Layout Type, Choose a Header, Top Header Layout, three contact-detail fields with icon controls, and Custom Text. The layout choices combine contact details, Top Header Menu, social menu, custom text, widget areas, or a button.

Top Header Menu is conditional: only layouts that include navigation render that location. The Plumbit top header is part of the theme. The Stronghold Top Bar used on demonstration sites is a separate site-owner tool and is not included in customer header settings.

Configure the Sticky Header#

Open Sticky Header and use Enable Sticky Navigation. The theme can use a separate sticky variant through Sticky Header Type, with choices Header 1, Header 2, and Header 3. The section also provides Sticky Header Layout Type, Choose a Header, Sticky Logo, and sticky logo sizing controls.

Theme sticky variants reuse the primary navigation location rather than requiring a separate sticky menu assignment. Test by scrolling a logged-out frontend page after checking the enable state and selected provider. Elementor sticky output uses its selected Header template when that provider is chosen; it has its own template content.

Assign the main and top menus#

Use How to assign Plumbit menu locations for the full workflow. For the theme header, Main Menu controls the primary desktop navigation and is reused by the theme sticky header. Top Header Menu is used only by top-header layouts that render navigation. A separate Mobile Menu location is covered in How to configure the Plumbit mobile header.

Preview and publish#

1. Record the starting state#

   Note the provider, Header Type, logo, menu locations, top-header enable state, and sticky state.

2. Preview the desktop header#

   Check the logo, main menu, selected design, links, buttons, search, and any visible top area.

3. Check representative pages#

   Visit the homepage, a normal page, a post, and a representative archive. Scroll to test the sticky state and check the logged-out result.

4. Publish the changes#

   Publish the Customizer changes after the correct provider and page scope are confirmed.

Global settings and page-level overrides#

Global Header settings apply broadly, but a supported page can have a deliberate provider or template override. When a page-level control supports inheritance, leaving it unset allows the corresponding global setting to apply. Where a matching page-level override is available, use it for a deliberate exception. A page override may explain why one page looks different from the rest of the site.

Do not confuse these site-header controls with Page Header controls for the title/banner area.

Expected result#

The theme-provided desktop header displays the selected Header Type, logo, menus, optional top area, and sticky behavior consistently across the tested pages.

When the safe checks do not resolve the issue, send the affected URL, a screenshot, header provider, Header Type, menu assignments, desktop or mobile state, sticky state, Plumbit version, Plumbit Extensions version, WordPress version, PHP version, and relevant console or PHP-log evidence.
