Troubleshooting Plumbit projects

Diagnose missing Projects, wrong images, empty filters, incorrect links, ordering, 404s, stale output, and missing widgets.

Project problems usually belong to one of four sources: the Project record, its Project Category terms, the Elementor Projects widget, or the page and cache state around them. Start with the symptom and check the source that owns it.

Confirm Plumbit Extensions is installed and active. Then confirm your WordPress role can manage Projects. The Project post type and Project Categories are registered by the companion plugin, not by a normal page editor.

A Project cannot be published#

Check the title, editor errors, media response, user permissions, security restrictions, and server logs. Projects support the title, featured image, editor, excerpt, and revisions. Plumbit does not require custom Client, Location, Date, or Gallery fields.

A Project is missing from a widget#

  1. Check publication#

Confirm the Project is published, not a draft or in the Trash.

  2. Check the widget mode#

If the widget uses Post Type, confirm the Project matches the query. If it uses Content List, the visible item is stored directly in the Project Items repeater and is not linked to the Project record.

  3. Check the query or repeater#

Review Project Category, item limit, pagination, exclusions, offset, ordering, or the relevant Project Items entry.

  4. Check the page#

Confirm the Elementor page was updated and the widget is not hidden at the current responsive breakpoint.

  5. Check cache last#

After the record and widget are correct, refresh the page and clear only the relevant page cache if the saved output remains stale.

The wrong Project appears#

Check whether the widget uses Post Type or Content List. In Post Type mode, check Project Category and query settings. In Content List mode, edit or remove the unintended Project Items repeater entry.

A Project image is missing#

Check the Project featured image for post-type cards. In Content List mode, check the repeater's Project Image. In Single Project mode, check the widget's direct Project Image. Also confirm the media file exists and the current image size or optimization layer is not failing. Do not regenerate every thumbnail as the first step.

Plumbit does not provide a Project gallery field. Check whether the visible images are Elementor content or Project Items stored directly in the Elementor page. Do not search for a gallery metabox that Plumbit does not provide.

Project metadata is missing#

Plumbit does not provide Client, Location, Date, Website, or other Project metadata fields. Check the active template and widget mode if another extension is expected to provide a separate field.

Project order is wrong#

Separate Content List repeater order, Post Type title order, default widget query order, Project Category taxonomy-route order, and frontend filter display order. Inspect the exact widget's Order by title setting and repeater order before changing Project dates or titles.

A Project filter is empty#

Check that Projects have the expected Project Categories terms, that the widget filter is reading the Project Categories taxonomy, and that the query includes those records. Check publication status and whether the selected category is empty.

Check the source mode. Post Type cards use the Project permalink when links are enabled. Content List or Single Project modes may use a direct URL or the Page / Post / Custom Post Type selector. Also check whether the Project slug changed or the destination was deleted.

The Project page returns 404#

Confirm the Project is published, the slug is correct, Plumbit Extensions is active, and no page or post uses the same slug. Check the existing WordPress permalink state if several Project URLs fail. Do not repeatedly resave permalink settings without evidence that rewrite state is the cause.

The Project archive is missing#

Plumbit's Project post type does not register a native Project archive. Project Category term routes are available when the taxonomy is registered and terms exist, while the general Project listing is normally supplied by an Elementor Projects widget or another page. Check the route type before troubleshooting an archive template.

Project changes remain stale#

Confirm the Project record or Elementor page was saved, then refresh the public page. Check that the widget is using the record you edited, followed by the relevant page cache, Elementor-generated files when Elementor owns the page, CDN cache, and browser cache. Clear only the layer that can explain the stale output.

The Elementor Projects widget is missing#

Confirm Elementor and Plumbit Extensions are active, search the Plumbit Elementor category for Projects, reload the editor, and check the browser console for editor errors. If the widget remains absent, collect the plugin and Elementor versions before escalating.

A critical error appears#

Collect the full error, Project URL, admin or frontend location, widget name, Plumbit version, Plumbit Extensions version, Elementor version, WordPress version, PHP version, and recent changes. Send these details to Plumbit support. Do not send passwords.

Expected result#

You can identify whether the problem belongs to the Project record, taxonomy, widget configuration, ordering, permalink, template, plugin state, or cache.
